YMCA field day

Mr. H and the YMCA took 1/2 our day for track and field events.

It was great fun trying to throw the spear using the atlatl, only Mrs. Bonn's camera quit so not all of us got our picture taken. The museum showed the history of the Umatilla and Cayuse tribes. We got to see replicas of their homes, their foods, tools, and we even got to beat a drum. This is a great place to visit.

Blue Mountain Crossing

Mrs. McClure taught us many things about the pioneers who crossed the Blue Mountains. We got to walk in the ruts of the wagons, saw wild onions, and a possible grave. Mrs. Bonn tried to add music to the video, but didn't have success. Enjoy our pictures of a wonderful day learning about pioneers.

awards

Grace won the school library contest for best book mark and Anthony won the school birthday card contest for Oregon's birthday. We are very proud that our class has two excellent artists to represent us.

griddle cakes

Griddle cakes taste like hotcakes. Some people call them pancakes. Either way, it was fun pretending we were on the Oregon Trail where we got to make them. We also tried molasses and shook cream into butter. Some of us ate dried fruit too. Mrs. Hammond helped make sure we didn't burn ourselves. This was fun.
